Evaluation

At the start of my projects i created a brainstorm of all the characters in alice in wonderland, the ones that stuck out to me , and i created a moodboard with techniques i would like to use , techniques which focused on the gradiend of the paper, such as paper cuttings which go inside the paper and installations which go out; this was my idea which aspired from inside outside and inbetween. From this point i felt i needed to research the characters. To develop my ideas i created a spider diagram for each of the six  individual characters i wanted to use, after i did that i created a mindmap created from pictures i took which inspired me of  the particular characters and also i took images off the internet of the original characters to give me inspiration for the characters i was going to design. When i had enough information on the characters i created six thumbnails in my sketch book of each of the six characters and sketched designs which i could use as my final images to start my techniques with. Some of the characters i had drew six ideas but for some of them i could only think of three or four designs before i found the one i really liked. To develop my ideas i researched a few artists who specialised in the techniques i wanted to use for my final peice such as ,Igor Udishlivy, Holly Levell a textile artist, Hina Aoyam a papercutter artist, Ciara Phelen collage artist, Jen bliss a photographer and digital artist, James Gallager illistaration artist, Dan Havel and Dean Ruck instalation artists; I used these artists as a stepping stone to give me ideas and inspiration and researched about them and put them on my blog. although i was not going to copy all of their ideas, they all gave me iseas to encorperate in my design.

I scanned in my thumnails i drew and with each technique i tried out what ever one looked the best i would choose those ones and not use the rest of that selection simualry to process of elimination. After researching James gallager who is not a conventional illistration artist but he used collages to create his illistration so i experimented a little bit with collages, and i started looking at tutorials on youtube how to create illistrations thats when i started to experiment with pastels  in my sketch book. Holly Level inspred me to use some kinds of textiles although i never used her technique i experimented in my book with fabric and textures og the fabric. I tried to do cut outs inspired by Hina Aoyama but the paper kept on tearing so i could not go as intricate as she did but i tried and i never liked the outcomes to much. I came accross Michael Keck who blended mixed media and that was what i decided to do with all of my experiments combine them into one image.

I really liked this project becaus you could experiment with so much, i chose the textures and mixed media to experiment with the idea of inside outside and inbetween; because i have planned alot of my work out the exam should be straightforward; i wish i had  experimented more and made pracctised my mix media peice but overall i fweel confident about my prep work and ready for the exam.

Michel Keck

This is a dog created by michel Keck , she specialises in mixed media and dogs. Also known for being an abstract painter. i was inspired by michel keck becaus i wanted to create a mixed media peice, Michel keck has inspired me to create one picture with a range of differente techniques to create one peice of art.

Before i was planning on having each character representing a different technique  in boxes but i feel that michel kecks collage of mixed media is more creative to have all of the techniques i have experimented with in one image.

Michel Keck said, "The creative process for me is one that is both automatic and emotional. The majority of my abstract works are inspired by the music I listen to. The beat, the lyrics, the emotions I feel from the music I am listening to while I am creating. For me, creating my art is like being on a roller coaster; ups and downs, highs and lows, twists and turns. Painting for me, like life, is constant movement, constant change. The creation process is cathartic, allowing my emotions to spill out onto my canvas as a release."

My aim is to create a peice which shows the emotion of the book i.e happiness, fun and bring people to another world. My peice is meant to be abnormal simuarly to the book. experimenting with textures on the outside of the book which represent the inside of the book, hopefully will show the inbetween meaning.

illistration experiments: Tweedle DEE and dum

I chose one of my favourite drawings grasped from my mind map and experimentation, scanned it in and refined it by live tracing it on illustrator like this picture below

It needed a lot more improvements and things to add on from there so i added them on through photo shop until i came up with something i liked to have or at lease use for now until i came up with a final option for my final outcome. I needed to be able to refine it further.

This is my scanned version which i manipulated and tidied up on photoshop, like the hand and the eyes.

THis was an experiment i tried on paint to colour the background i liked the way the colour gave the edges a jagged edge to create a lightning effect.

Digital Work experiments: Cheshire cat

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbd21dGAPMM

This is a picture i took of my sisters cat, to represent  the cheshire cat, i am going to try a range of digital experiments to see what will look best to represent the cheshire cat.

Experiment 1

This is my first exerimental photo of the cheshire cat,; my aim was to make the head the focal point of the picture to acheive this i blurred the background and zoomed in the head, i acheived what i wanted to create but feel it could be done better to create a better effect.
