Evaluation
At the start of my projects i created a brainstorm of all the characters in alice in wonderland, the ones that stuck out to me , and i created a moodboard with techniques i would like to use , techniques which focused on the gradiend of the paper, such as paper cuttings which go inside the paper and installations which go out; this was my idea which aspired from inside outside and inbetween. From this point i felt i needed to research the characters. To develop my ideas i created a spider diagram for each of the six individual characters i wanted to use, after i did that i created a mindmap created from pictures i took which inspired me of the particular characters and also i took images off the internet of the original characters to give me inspiration for the characters i was going to design. When i had enough information on the characters i created six thumbnails in my sketch book of each of the six characters and sketched designs which i could use as my final images to start my techniques with. Some of the characters i had drew six ideas but for some of them i could only think of three or four designs before i found the one i really liked. To develop my ideas i researched a few artists who specialised in the techniques i wanted to use for my final peice such as ,Igor Udishlivy, Holly Levell a textile artist, Hina Aoyam a papercutter artist, Ciara Phelen collage artist, Jen bliss a photographer and digital artist, James Gallager illistaration artist, Dan Havel and Dean Ruck instalation artists; I used these artists as a stepping stone to give me ideas and inspiration and researched about them and put them on my blog. although i was not going to copy all of their ideas, they all gave me iseas to encorperate in my design.
I scanned in my thumnails i drew and with each technique i tried out what ever one looked the best i would choose those ones and not use the rest of that selection simualry to process of elimination. After researching James gallager who is not a conventional illistration artist but he used collages to create his illistration so i experimented a little bit with collages, and i started looking at tutorials on youtube how to create illistrations thats when i started to experiment with pastels in my sketch book. Holly Level inspred me to use some kinds of textiles although i never used her technique i experimented in my book with fabric and textures og the fabric. I tried to do cut outs inspired by Hina Aoyama but the paper kept on tearing so i could not go as intricate as she did but i tried and i never liked the outcomes to much. I came accross Michael Keck who blended mixed media and that was what i decided to do with all of my experiments combine them into one image.
I really liked this project becaus you could experiment with so much, i chose the textures and mixed media to experiment with the idea of inside outside and inbetween; because i have planned alot of my work out the exam should be straightforward; i wish i had experimented more and made pracctised my mix media peice but overall i fweel confident about my prep work and ready for the exam.

Michel Keck
This is a dog created by michel Keck , she specialises in mixed media and dogs. Also known for being an abstract painter. i was inspired by michel keck becaus i wanted to create a mixed media peice, Michel keck has inspired me to create one picture with a range of differente techniques to create one peice of art.
Before i was planning on having each character representing a different technique in boxes but i feel that michel kecks collage of mixed media is more creative to have all of the techniques i have experimented with in one image.
Michel Keck said, "The creative process for me is one that is both automatic and emotional. The majority of my abstract works are inspired by the music I listen to. The beat, the lyrics, the emotions I feel from the music I am listening to while I am creating. For me, creating my art is like being on a roller coaster; ups and downs, highs and lows, twists and turns. Painting for me, like life, is constant movement, constant change. The creation process is cathartic, allowing my emotions to spill out onto my canvas as a release."
My aim is to create a peice which shows the emotion of the book i.e happiness, fun and bring people to another world. My peice is meant to be abnormal simuarly to the book. experimenting with textures on the outside of the book which represent the inside of the book, hopefully will show the inbetween meaning.

illistration experiments: Tweedle DEE and dum
I chose one of my favourite drawings grasped from my mind map and experimentation, scanned it in and refined it by live tracing it on illustrator like this picture below
It needed a lot more improvements and things to add on from there so i added them on through photo shop until i came up with something i liked to have or at lease use for now until i came up with a final option for my final outcome. I needed to be able to refine it further.
This is my scanned version which i manipulated and tidied up on photoshop, like the hand and the eyes.
THis was an experiment i tried on paint to colour the background i liked the way the colour gave the edges a jagged edge to create a lightning effect.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbd21dGAPMM
Experiment 1
This is a picture i took of my sisters cat, to represent the cheshire cat, i am going to try a range of digital experiments to see what will look best to represent the cheshire cat.
Experiment 1
This is my first exerimental photo of the cheshire cat,; my aim was to make the head the focal point of the picture to acheive this i blurred the background and zoomed in the head, i acheived what i wanted to create but feel it could be done better to create a better effect.

Havel Ruck Projects (Dan Havel and Dean Ruck) is an artist
collaborative that works in public and quasi-public environments to repurpose architectural structures and remnants of no perceived market value into works of art. By reorganizing the physical construction of unremarkable spaces and places, their interventions bring attention and recognition to underappreciated and ordinary buildings and their histories. Beginning informally in 1994 with Project O House, in collaboration with Kate Petley, the duo came together again in 2004 to create Inversion and Apt. Suite and through 2008 they also completed Scatter Boats and a series of “trespass” works. In 2009 they formalized their collaborative as Havel Ruck Projects, LLP. That same year they executed the dual-site project Give and Take as part of a group show at Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston. HRP projects have garnered broad attention from the public and media and the artists are honored to have received grants and awards from American Institute of Architects, Houston Arts Alliance, Texas Society of

Jen Bliss: Photography
Jen Bliss is the photographer for this piece of art , she is a photographer from the Pacific Northwest. She specialises in high impact portrait photography. She always tries to tell a story with each image she creates. The creative process for her usually begins with a specific idea in mind. However, she remains flexible, and has often detoured from her original plan. She tries to learn the emotions, thoughts, and personality of each new subject. Making a connection with the subject and providing a comfortable experience is most important to her. she likes to be unique with her ideas and tries to see the final photograph in my mind, even before she's finished.
I have looked at her freelance website ---> http://1x.com/member/njsabs2323/photos/latest <--- to further my understanding of her art ; i would say her work is dominantly focused around portraits, This work is called "flying on the rooftops" , this just explains the whole picture; this is her only photo with this style her other images are more elegant and focus on the elements on peoples bod shape and face. I feel that this picture has a story i think it emotes a childlike feeling of being able to fly also with colour from the balloons with the black and white background, also which could be symbolic of a child drawing the hop scotch squares with chalk; thats where i think she has found her inspiration from , maybe her child hood or maybe another child.
The materials which have been used are a black floor, chalk balloons and a model, simple yet effective, the image gives the illusion that the model is on the rooftops. When i first saw this photograph it emoted my child inside of me , i feel it is really playful and made me say wow. The only thing i dilsike within the art is it doesn't really fit into her theme of her other images.

Holly Levell: Textile
This artwork was created by Holly Levell ; She is a new young textile artist who just graduated from university of Huddersfield , This artworks called , "Supermarket stitch "These are copies of everyday products which people by made out of felt, theses pieces were created very recently whilst and after she had finished her degree. Her artwork is made for an exhibit to change the status about everyday items and see them as an art form. I have chosen to analyse this work because it caught my eye.
I have looked at other textile artist to further my understanding of her work such as; Carol griffin she also uses materials to create 3D objects .
I looked at Holly's personal website also ---> http://www.angelinthenorth.com/2012/10/16/stitching-sculptures-from-every-day-objects/ AND http://www.wix.com/holly_levell/01#! <---- I am not sure what type of art it is apart from the obvious textile art. The work defiantly has a them which is the things you find in a supermarket, she takes a humble object and manipulates it into an art piece. The title of her work is very self explanatory. I think there is a deeper meaning for the artwork and i think it may be to get across the idea people put a lot of energy and even prize the small things in life. This artist has found her inspiration in everyday life.
The materials Holly used was felt and thread, the techniques used where patterning her work, stitching and sewing. She creates these pieces on a sewing machine, some things are sewn by hand but the majority is sewn on the machine. I think a major skill used was patience but i also feel that a more practical skill was being able to observe other items and create them very similarly. I think that the key elements to create Hollys pieces were cooer and shape, all the items are literal size to the things she create and all of them are handmade.
I have chosen to look at this work because i want to explore a range of techniques such as textile and sewing , when i first saw the work i was amazed at how the food items are like exact replicas , i do not dislike anything about this work. This work has inspired me to explore with textile techniques.
Hina Aoyama: Paper cutting
Hina Aoyama is a specialist paper cutter ,she is chinese born but has been raised in france, paris. She is the artist of these two images above , She is famous for making her work so intricate and detailed but i am fan because her work is detailed but very elegant; i was looking for an elegant artist for some ideas because i wanted to express Alice symbolically in piece rather than literally. These particular art pieces do not have a name or a title but are among her collection of artwork. These are paper cuttings created recently i am not sure how recent because these were among a collection , each piece can take her weeks to start and finish.
http://www.arch2o.com/paper-cut-hina-aoyama/#prettyPhoto <---- This is a website of all of her work, they are all very pretty; i looked at other paper cutters such as Rob ryan and (.....) I even looked at other websites with paper cutting artist such as this ---> http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2009/05/100-extraordinary-examples-of-paper-art/ But no other artist was as intricate and elegant as Hina Aoyama; she was also one of the only artist to create these pieces by hand. All her pieces of work have a similar theme and i think it comes from a chinese / french background; butterflies and flowers are used a lot with in asian art; this is where i think HIna has found her inspiration from her culture.
Hina has used her free hand and scissors to create these pieces that is why they are symmetrical; she has also used cutting knives to get really detailed, she mainly uses black paper, i feel that using black paper also gives the art more elegance; all of her art pieces are barely bigger than a hand , this is probably because it is so detailed , creating a big one could take months to complete. The key elements in this work is the shape and the patterns created.

My Pinterest explores visually where i got some of my ideas from, incase they are not on my blog or my sketch book.
Primary pictures
These were some photos i took around college quickly, each one of them reminded me of, or gave me an idea of what i could do for alice in the wonderland, if i manipulated them and experimented with them.

Igor Udushlivy*
Analysis
This artist is Igor “Rogix” Udushlivy. He is a graphic designer and illustrator. He has more than 100 projects in his portfolio. he loves to create icons, illustrations, logos, animation and more. He combines graphics and sense, because design is a thought made in a graphic way. His ideas are always vivid and funny. Igor tends to freelance, long-Term Contract and design consulting. Feel free to contact me. He is not a big time artist yet but on his way.The two book case are two of a selection of book covers he created like this (click link to check it out.)
http://www.behance.net/gallery/JacketBookmark/396109
The colours that have been used are too over the top, as they are kept really subtle so there is no distraction from the book. Udushlivy design and creativity with this jackets is just to draw you in, not just with the bookmark and the illustration, but also the text too. Again he has used the same font as in the other book jacket, but has made the first line slightly bigger than the second so the word 'sword' get the most emphasis out of the name of the story.
The first book cover is designed by Igor Udushlivy. This book does not seem to have any hidden meanings it just appears to present the title of the book sword in the stone.
The way that this book jacket has been designed is really simple, having the name of the book at the bottom, meaning that the main attention is of the stone at the top of the page with the bookmark of a sword revealing itself from the inner pages, so it looks like the 'sword is stuck in the stone.
This second image is based on the Nottingham born fictional/real hero Robin Hood. Udushlivy has designed the book with illustrations that relate to the story. He has chose an apple as the main picture on the front of the book to grab the audiences attention. The main reason why he has an apple at the front on the book is to link in with the story. The apple is significant, as well as the arrow in the book mark, an arrow. The significant between the the apple and the arrow is that in the story, Robin shots arrows at fruit so he can give food to the poor. The arrow also links with that he is good at archery. In my opinion the illustrations are really good, and are really minimalistic which draws you in more. Also the text that has been used is bold and stands out and makes to take notice. The text is black and is in a very standard form, meaning it is a sans serif (no flicks on the end of letters). I really like this simplicity of Udushlivy work, because the illustrations on the cover tell you what happens inside the book basically tells you whats in the book.

mood board
Analysis
Within this mood board i have placed a range of techniques, and images i will incorporate or want to incorperate in my experiments and final out.
PAPER CUTS- i really think that the paper cuts gives the creation an elegance, and i feel that Alice in the wonderland is a very elegant book, an artist i plan to look at is Rob ryan and i will also experiment with how i can do that.
DIGITAL ILLUSIONS- I believe that Alice in the wonderland is a book full of illusions and tricks so i feel that it is only right to have some kind of digital illusion, e.g the cheshire cat from the cup
CHARACTERS- I have presented lots of different characters with in this mind map because i plan on using them within my final out come somehow
TEXTURES - I plan on using different techniques to create textures , perhaps building on the cover or cutting out the cover , but i want to expire with texture.

3.Mad hatter- Brings humour to the book
4.Dutchess- flexible there are many con nations i could explore
5.White rabbit- first character to paper in book and film
6.Queen of hearts- there needs to be a "bad guy" represented
7. Caterpillar -I can explore with shape and texture to create a lot of cool things
8. The mouse- i can explore with textures
In this video below I'm am just expelling the mind map in more depth, if it is not as visually clear.
